With already more than 250 insurtechs that have rocked the DIA stage and more than 5,000 insurance executives, investors and other change agents who attended one of our conferences The DIA Community is growing and growing.
We’re quite often asked ‘how is this insurtech doing?’ Fortunately, almost every insurtech that has been on stage during past DIA editions is truly successful and are involved in exciting business adventures. DIAmond Award Winner Wrisk for instance recently engaged in a partnership with BMW.
There are so many success stories coming from our DIA Community that we decided to select a few and share them with you.

Slice Labs launches Slice Launch Studio
In the past few years many carriers have launched innovation hubs in which they invite insurtechs to work with them. Slice Labs, a leading on-demand insurance cloud platform provider, turned that around. They announced the opening of the Slice Launch Studio in downtown Toronto, which is designed to be an innovation hub for Slice and its partners to ideate, experiment, test and deploy new on-demand insurance products on the Slice Insurance Cloud Services platform.
So now insurers and technology companies from around the world can come to the Launch Studio to collaborate on hackathons, a key step in Slice’s approach to getting product to market quickly.

Neurotrack & Dai-ichi Life Join Forces; ‘A Match Made in Cognitive Health Heaven’
One fifth of Japan’s population is now 70 years old or older, with all of the geriatric and end-of-life health concerns that this entails. In other words, uber-healthy Japan, ironically now finds itself at the forefront of the complexities of elder healthcare for those at the far end of its bell curve, including seeking new and innovative methods to prevent memory loss and dementia. Neurotrack recently entered an out-of-the-box partnership with Dai-ichi Life, the second largest life insurance company in Japan. Dai-ichi plans to start selling a dementia insurance product that will allow each of its members, should they so wish, to take our five-minute Imprint Memory Assessment test via a program that tracks eye movement. The results of these tests will provide crucial and useful scores to assess memory health, making it possible for anyone in the Dai-ichi family to begin tracking and monitoring their brain health over time.

Amodo powered AIG On The Go is awarded an EFMA Accenture Innovation in Insurance Award
Another recognition of Amodo’s innovation edge. Last month EFMA Accenture Innovation in Insurance Awards highlighted AIG On the Go for ‘Insurance Innovation of the Month’. “Our solution was not just another telematics app offering standard discounts based on driving behaviour. They flipped the entire model by decoupling the app from the insurance and making it available to the general population with a solution that featured gamification and social contests with an instant rewards program including lifestyle benefits to the customers based on their driving behaviour”, said Daryl Png, product innovation lead at AIG Singapore.

Facebook and the Technical University of Munich Announce New Independent TUM Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence offers an immense opportunity to benefit people and communities around the world. But as AI technology increasingly impacts people and society, the academics, industry stakeholders and developers driving these advances need to do so responsibly and ensure AI treats people fairly, protects their safety, respects their privacy, and works for them.
Facebook and the Technical University of Munich (TUM, one of the members of DIA partner InsurTech Hub Munich) announced a new partnership to create an independent AI ethics research center. The Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence, which is supported by an initial funding grant from Facebook of $7.5 million over five years, will help advance the growing field of ethical research on new technology and will explore fundamental issues affecting the use and impact of AI.

Hagerty Selects Vlocity Insurance to Power End-to-End Digital Transformation
Hagerty has selected Vlocity Digital Insurance to transform its legacy core systems with a modern, cloud-based insurance platform that runs entirely on Salesforce. Hagerty, an automotive lifestyle brand and also a global provider of insurance for collector cars, boats and other vintage vehicles, will replace their existing operating systems with a streamlined, omnichannel solution from Vlocity supporting the entire policy lifecycle.

The Floow part of prestigious consortium Move_UK
MOVE_UK is contributing to the progression towards automated driving through connected systems validation and analysis of ‘big data’. The project is part funded by the UK Government and is a collaboration between a consortium of six industry-leading organisations - Bosch, Jaguar Land Rover, TRL, Royal Borough of Greenwich, Direct Line Group and The Floow.

Zelros publishes open standard for ethical enterprise grade AI
Virtually everyone agrees that, just like the invention of the wheel, of the printing press or of the computer, AI will radically reshape the way companies work and societies are shaped. This is such a revolution, that all industries will be impacted, without any exception: transportation, e-commerce, education, healthcare, energy, insurance, … Zelros believes that it is of the utmost importance to achieve a wide adoption of trustworthy AIs by organizations. There is a need for an ethical AI standard. They designed a framework contributing to a more explainable and transparent AI and decided to publish it publicly on their github. By making their standard public, they hope it will gain visibility, and attract as much feedback as possible.

DataRobot and UiPath Partner to Accelerate the Path to AI
In a recent study DIA academic partners Alexander Braun and Florian Schreiber (University of St. Gallen) argue that real innovations require more than just new technological improvements to unlock new economic value. It is about combinations of innovative new models. Now think about insurtechs working closely together, combining their ideas to come up with something that is even more innovative. ‘Innovation multiplied’, one of the top trends that we see in the insurtech space. And that’s exactly what we already see taking place in the DIA community; two DIA alumni working closely together. DataRobot, the pioneering architect of automated machine learning, announced a partnership with UiPath, the leading Enterprise Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software company.

Wrisk and BMW launch first joint product
Wrisk is now the sole supplier of BMW and MINI Car Insurance in the UK. This includes seven days' free insurance with the purchase of any new or used BMW or MINI vehicle through the BMW and MINI UK network. Wrisk also offer fully comprehensive annual car insurance for customers who wish to continue their cover beyond the 7-day free cover.

Grohe and Relayr Join Forces in the Fight Against Water Damage
GROHE, a global leader in sanitary equipment, benefits from access to cloud technology and the network of relayr, the IoT expert that was recently acquired by Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB), part of the Munich Re Group. Thanks to this partnership, the intelligent water security system GROHE Sense can be connected more flexibly and faster with other IT ecosystems and networking platforms, especially those that are run by insurance companies.
