The startup is the latest InsurTech providing a product tailored to the needs of professional drivers working with services such as Uber, Lyft and Gett in the ‘rideshare’ space. The company’s mobile app allows drivers to obtain a quote and purchase a policy in minutes. INSHUR meets a real-world insurance need. Professional drivers are frustrated with the process of buying insurance. For example, after calling an insurer or broker, it was necessary to send copies of various documents by post or email and sign forms in person. It took several hours or days to confirm cover. Being able to do all of this in the app is what separates INSHUR from the market. Furthermore, mid-term adjustments and payments are managed in the INSHUR app.
How does it work?
The app uses a digital messaging assistant, Ami, to collect basic customer information. The automated chat process makes data entry simple, which is essential considering the diversity of the driver customer base. Another important component is the collection of driver data which the system ingests and analyses in real time.
- Log in and/or sign up using Email or Uber Login (Uber and email for US and Uber for UK).
- Scan license using a phone camera to help fill out the details. Once they have the details, they show the policy options.
- Review order, sign documents and pay, all in the app.
- Able to manage the policy, get help and report claims in the app.

There are three levels of cover and the option to buy monthly or yearly policies. The company claims that a policy can be issued within three minutes. The record is 171 seconds.

Who is INSHUR?
Founded in 2016. David Daiches is a co-founder and COO of Inshur. With an entrepreneurial spirit, his passion is to harness the power of technology in a creative and collaborative manner to solve real world business problems. Since graduating with a degree in mathematics and statistics from Newcastle University he has worked in a wide range of technology roles from programmer to CEO for companies ranging from start-ups to FTSE100. After focussing on retail technology in his early career he moved into Insurance in 2008 running the leading UK software house Insurecom that was sold to Applied Systems in 2013. After meeting Dan (Inshur co-founder) in late 2015 he was immediately struck by the huge opportunity that the commercial auto market presented and in particular the exploding rideshare industry. After multiple iterations of the Inshur platform he’s still continually striving to improve the customer experience and looking at how we can use data to improve our underwriting and claims processes.
