InsurTech Hub Munich and Dutch Association of Insurers sign cooperation agreement at DIA Amsterdam
It is DIA’s mission to accelerate innovation in insurance by connecting insurance executives with insurtech leaders and by building the most inspiring ecosystem. At the recent DIA edition, InsurTech Hub Munich (ITHM) and the Dutch Association of Insurers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly foster new approaches and innovation in the field of InsurTech.

DataRobot helps Worldwide Water Access Tapping into a Well of Data
Global Water Challenge, wanted to understand why rural water points that give water to nearly one billion people frequently broke. With the help of DataRobot, they began gathering data for the first time. Data was scattered across multiple sources, even within one country, and generally collected in different formats and mediums. The models built with are some of the first large scale uses of machine learning on water point data. The initial response by governments has been overwhelmingly positive as these tools help focus resources in resource-constrained environments. Now the’re exploring other areas where DataRobot can help address issues with distributed infrastructure and how they can actively work with key stakeholders on the ground to improve the data coming into the tool.

Mediktor amongst the Best Medtech startups in Europe
Congratulations to Mediktor! They have been named amongst the best Medtech startups in Europe. Valuer.ai has compiled a list of the best Medtech start-ups in each European country, that they believe everyone should watch out for. This list includes startups related to all different aspects of the medical process, e.g., an app that connects you to a medical center or a sensor that collects data from you while you sleep, could be included even if it overlaps with BioTech or HealthTech.

Al Specialists omni:us and FRISS Partner to Offer Claims, Fraud Detection Services
We are thrilled to see 2 DIA alumni — omni:us and FRISS — teaming up to “supercharge” insurance claims management and fraud detection. omni:us is a provider of AI-based cognitive claims management service, while FRISS is a provider of AI-powered fraud and risk solutions for the P/C insurance industry. The products of both companies complement each other by delivering AI capabilities that allow insurers to digitize, improve the efficiency of their claims process, and deliver better customer experiences, the companies added.

French insurer MAIF launches a mobile app dedicated to learner drivers’ training and safety – powered by DriveQuant
Wondering how to turn innovation with insurtech into top line and bottom line impact? Check out this new collaboration. DriveQuant and MAIF have developed “Conduire par MAIF” ("Driving by MAIF"), a mobile app dedicated to improving the driving skills of learner drivers. This innovative app acts as a true guide to simple and intuitive driving coupled with a learning booklet, and is the result of research and work carried out with 700 testers over a one-year period. "Conduire par MAIF" provides a fun way to support young drivers in their driving and to raise their awareness of both road safety and eco-driving.

Report on InsurTech Hub Munich’s Werk1 Forward Insurtech Accelerator Demo Day
Demo Day on July 10, 2019, provided ten startups with the occasion to prove their concepts. More than 300 guests from ITHM’s corporate partners, industry representatives, investors, academia and government agencies joined the event at the European offices of Silicon Valley innovation platform Plug and Play Tech Center in Munich. They had eight weeks to meet with and learn from industry mentors, experienced founders and investors: as the ten participating teams of InsurTech Hub Munich’s fourth W1 Forward accelerator program pitched on Demo Day, the insurance industry listened attentively.
